Mercy House Boarding House

Our Boarding House can accommodate up to 30 women with individual rooms.

We are a clean, safe, faith-based home for women 18 years and older.

We do not accept men, couples, families or minors.

The building is a historical structure and a former Dominican Convent with a full functioning kitchen, dining room, living room, and chapel where the St. Paul’s Parish daily Mass is celebrated.

Residents have their own private room with a twin bed and sink. Bathrooms and showers are shared in the hallway.

  • Rent

    Rent is $900 per month and includes a private room, utilities, and three meals a day plus snacks are available. Add-ons such as air conditioning and cable television are available upon request. Parking is not included and residents who own vehicles must find street parking.

  • Rules

    Managing a house of 30 people is difficult and requires cooperation from all of our residents to strictly adhere to the house rules and regulations in order to maintain a safe, clean, and hospitable atmosphere. We expect our residents to work with us in order to help us create a sense of community and home.

  • Laundry

    Each resident is given a 3 hour time slot during the week to do their own laundry. There is a laundry room in the basement and the schedule is posted and updated monthly.

  • Events

    Throughout the year there are various events and outings scheduled for the residents which include: Family style Thanksgiving Dinner, Beach Day, Nights of Reflection, Movie Nights, and other opportunities. Residents also find themselves enjoying some of the parish activities such as St. Paul’s Feast, Bible Studies or adult faith classes, the Parish BBQ’s and community events, Concerts, Karaoke Nights, and much more.

To apply for a room, residents can contact Cheryl Riley, Director of Mercy House, at 201-650-2961 or cheryl.riley@rcan.org. Applicants will need to provide proof of insurance and proof of income. Each applicant will be interviewed individually in order to determine if Mercy House would be a good fit.
